Based in East Yorkshire, Literacy Unlocked provides specialist intervention, support, and tutoring for children with dyslexia.
We have tutors who understand that each child is unique and with the right guidance, strategies, and dyslexia support, every child can overcome adversity and unlock their full potential.
Our dyslexia tutoring focuses on fostering your child’s literacy skills, enhancing their confidence, and equipping them with the essential tools to become life-long learners.
Through first-hand experience we understand that learning can be challenging for a child with dyslexia.
At Literacy Unlocked we believe in fostering a positive and encouraging environment with dedicated dyslexia support.
We celebrate a child’s strengths, enabling them to grow as individuals and learners through our tutoring sessions.
We recognise the importance of collaboration and communication with parents, understanding the valuable role they play in a child’s educational journey.
At Literacy Unlocked, we maintain open communication between our tutors, parents, and students, ensuring a comprehensive network of dyslexia support.
Our tutors provide feedback and support throughout, ensuring a seamless learning experience for each student in a tutoring program.
Dyslexia is a learning difference, not a learning disability.
It occurs on a spectrum from mild to severe and impacts on all aspects of learning from reading and writing to memory and concentration.
It can affect phonological awareness, working memory, sequencing, organization and time keeping.
Dyslexia is independent of a child’s intelligence and frequently offers other skills and talents due to a different way of thinking and learning. Specialist dyslexia intervention can identify these skills and use them alongside specific teaching strategies to develop confidence in learning and build self-esteem.
Specialist dyslexia tutoring is available for children from 6 -11 years in hourly learning sessions.
Our dyslexia support sessions are multi-sensory and aim to incorporate tactile, visual, and auditory activities into the learning process giving children with dyslexia more ways to understand, remember and recall new information.
To maximise a child’s academic progress a positive partnership between our tutors and parents is paramount. Time will be spent at the end of each dyslexia support session discussing the next steps.
Unlike traditional classroom settings, our one-on-one tutoring sessions offer a tailored learning experience that focuses on the specific strengths and challenges of each student.
Tutoring sessions will be held at our tutor's home in East Yorkshire, providing a secure and encouraging environment where students can comfortably explore their academic potential.
We recognise that scheduling of tutoring sessions can be a concern for busy students and parents. Our tutors work with you to find a schedule that fits best for both student and tutor.
In a traditional classroom setting we can still provide individualised learning and dyslexia support. Our tutor will assess the student's strengths, challenges, and learning goals to develop a tailored support plan.
Our dyslexia tutoring sessions are designed to foster positive integration into the classroom setting. We aim to help students feel more confident and engaged during their regular class time.
We create a positive and encouraging learning environment, enabling students to feel comfortable and motivated to learn. Building their confidence is an essential part of our dyslexia support.
